had to deal with a much terrorised public.‚Fifth column activities, aimed

gangs and wholesale looting being the order of the day.

Altho' Martial Law was never proclaimed arms were used

extensively by the Police in an attempt to overcome this lawlessness.

Casualties, tho' never properly recorded, were very high in the

Force.

Since the reoccupation of the Colony the Force has again had to

make use of arms to over-come a most up to date type of criminal, armed

with modern weapons, as against antiquated weapons used by the Police.

Sad it is to say that during this time, two of our brother

Officers, in the execution of their duties have been murdered,

From the foregoing it will readily be seen that our duties are

frought with danger and with the continued unsettled state of conditions

further use of arms will likely be the order of the day.
